Meet the Founder, Wen Shen
35 years of language teaching — from first pinyin to confident conversation.
Founder & Head TeacherWen Shen 沈文Wen Shen has taught languages for 35 years — 25 of them in Mandarin as a Second Language — across three countries: China, Cambodia, and Canada. A native Mandarin speaker certified at Putonghua Level A (Beijing), she has spent 13 years in Quebec, including over a decade at Dawson College in Montréal, where she designs curriculum and teaches Mandarin to adult learners from beginner to advanced. For the 2015 film Arrival, she translated the Mandarin dialogue for Professor Louise's pivotal phone call with the Chinese general — then coached the main actress herself to deliver those lines with accurate tones and natural delivery. Known for her handwritten flashcards — "real paper every day" — Wen brings craft, warmth, and rigor to every lesson, in Mandarin, English, and French.
